Urchin Installation Procedure - Linux

Check to see if Urchin is installed by typing 'cd /usr/local'. Then type 'ls'.

  1. mkdir /usr/local/urchin
  2. cd /usr/local/urchin
  3. wget http://dl.google.com/urchin/urchin5703_redhat_ent3.tar.gz
  4. tar -xvzf urchin5703_redhat_ent3.tar.gz
  5. ./install.sh
  6. Choose 1. English
  7. Choose 1. New
  8. Press [Enter] to install in the default directory. (/usr/local/urchin)
  9. Press [Enter] to use default port number 9999
  10. Press [Enter] for the default user for the web server (nobody)
  11. Press [Enter] for the default group for the web server (nobody)
  12. Choose 1. to start urchin web server at the end of the installation
  13. Choose 1. to continue.
  14. cp /usr/local/urchin/util/urchin_daemons /etc/init.d/urchin
    * chmod 755 /etc/init.d/urchin
    * ln -fs /etc/init.d/urchin /etc/rc3.d/S99urchin
    * ln -fs /etc/init.d/urchin /etc/rc5.d/S99urchin
